QUT collects equity data from staff to assist with planning
and developing appropriate employment and career development programs. The University
has always known how many women and men work at QUT. This information is used
to develop gender equity programs.
However, until 2000, QUT did not collect staff equity data for other equity groups.
Now, by collecting this information, the University can develop plans and programs
of support and development for equity target groups such as:
- Indigenous staff
- staff with a disability
- staff from non-English speaking or cultural backgrounds, and
- women.
Knowing more about employees is part of QUT's commitment to equity and diversity.
This means making QUT a good workplace for staff as diverse as the wider community.
The more staff who provide equity data, the better able QUT will be to develop
comprehensive and relevant employment and career development strategies for
ALL staff equity groups.
