What is Equal Opportunity?QUT has a continuing obligation under Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Act 1999 to develop and implement strategies to improve employment prospects, remuneration and career development for women. At QUT the areas of women's employment requiring attention are senior positions and positions in non-traditional areas of employment. QUT's program for women has been recognised by the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA) as a quality program, and QUT has been recognised at an Employer of Choice for Women by EOWA since 2002. Human Resources Deparment and the Equity
Section. The Human Resources Department provides targeted training for academic,
professional and senior staff. This includes programs for academic staff on orientation,
career development and performance management programs. The Equity Section also provides targeted training for female staff through its Equity Training and Development Program. Programs target women at different levels within the organisation and develop skills designed to advance female staff towards their chosen goals.
