The Equity Section coordinates and supports a range of services for staff and
students including a comprehensive equity training
and development program; disability
services; affirmative action, equal opportunity and employment strategies;
staff networks; financial
assistance for students; and equity
entry programs.
The Equity Section is also responsible for implementing policies and procedures
to protect staff and students from discrimination
and harassment. This includes comprehensive grievance resolution policies
and procedures for all staff and students, training for managers and supervisors
in the handling of grievances and a Discrimination
Contact Officer network to assist staff and students.
Other initiatives include a recognition
and reward program and equity initiative grants for individuals and projects which show a commitment
to infusing equity considerations into all spheres of activity within the University
and to the wider community.
