This section contains the relevant Commonwealth
and Queensland legislation including Equal Opportunity
and Anti-discrimination legislation and the Human Rights Act. This legislation
exists to protect the rights of all Australians, regardless of their culture,
religion, sex or other irrelevant traits.
QUT has based many of its own policies on this legislation to ensure these laws
are upheld within QUT.
QUT has an additional responsibility to prevent discrimination and human rights
violations and is subject to vicarious liability if these rights are violated.
The QUT Manual of Policies and Procedures
outlines QUT equity policies. Managers and supervisors should familiarise themselves
with all relevant policy information.
