Scholarships ScholarshipsQUT has allocated over 1500 scholarships and bursaries to low-income students as part of the 2008 Equity Scholarship Scheme. This makes QUT one of the largest providers of needs-based scholarships in the sector. There are now over 2,700 QUT students in receipt of a needs-based scholarship or bursary. The total cash value of this year's needs-based scholarships is more than $7m, of which over $2m is from QUT sources with the balance coming from Commonwealth-funded scholarships. In addition to scholarships, reconditioned computers, and vouchers for “Green PC” computers were allocated. Students who were unsuccessful in semester 1 will be considered for Bursaries (valued at $1000) in semester 2. All students will be notified about available scholarships via QUT Virtual. The Equity Section unveiled its latest outreach initiative for students from equity target groups. project u is a unique resource for prospective students which addresses a range of issues which often deter students from considering higher education. project u addresses issues such as the costs of study, managing stress, living away from home, finding appropriate information and keeping options for university open. |
|
What makes this project unique is that the key messages are delivered by students and for students. Current students have generously shared their own personal experiences of coming to university providing very frank, honest and helpful information to their peers.
The DVD includes bold animation, original music, informative interviews, competitions, and a supporting website.
Over 30 000 copies of the DVD have been distributed around Queensland to high school students, via PCYCs, Youth Support Coordinators, retail outlets and youth-based events.
