Treating people equitably means treating them all the same right?

Wrong.

It's a common misconception that treating people equitably means treating them all the same. However, many individuals and groups of people experience social disadvantage that creates barriers to their success.

To give everyone a fair chance to compete and achieve to their full potential, QUT provides assistance to particular groups and individuals.

What does equity mean at QUT?

QUT aims to mirror the diversity of the community in our staff and student population. Central to the University's goals are:

  • Positive support for the cultural and social diversity within the staff and student body
  • an education and work environment free from all forms of discrimination and harassment, and
  • QUT graduates who possess a sense of community responsibility.
